Because my current work and freetime activity is covered by the scope of J2ME software development I was very interested when fok sent me an article link. It is about Java games on mobile phones, their development, their ‘portability’ and many many more interesting experiences written by one of the most famous game developer world wide – John Carmack, technical director at Id Software, the mother of Doom, Quake, Heretic, Hexen, Wolfenstein, Spear of Destiny, Commander Keen and so on.
After a couple of time for reading his comment, we see eye to eye 😉 J2ME is slow, it is not consistent implemented because this depends on the manufactors of such mobile devices which seem to be unable to read specifications and implement them in the right way! OK, enough of grumbling!

Skylab GPS Simulator:
Der weltweit einzige GPS Simulator einen OGC konformen WMS Client implementiert und auf seriellen Ports, im Netzwerk sowie ueber Bluetooth ein GPS Modul simulieren kann.
J2ME WMS Client:
Wiederrum ein Produkt, welches nur von Skylab Mobilesystems angeboten wird, da dieser Client die minimalen Anforderungen an JAVA-faehige Handys stellt, die es ueberhaupt geben kann. Prinzipiell sollte dieses Programm also auf jedem Java-faehigen Mobiltelefon laufen. Hinzu kommt noch, dass dieser komplett OGC WMS konforme Client kostenlos fuer nicht-kommerzielle Zwecke zur Verfuegung steht.
WMS Serverliste:
Eine der umfangreichsten Listen frei verfuegbarer WMS Server im Netz wird von Skylab Mobilesystems wiederrum kostenlos zur Verfuegung gestellt. Sie wird in regelmaessigen Abstaenden aktualisiert und ist somit stets auf dem aktuellen Stand.
Erster Arbeitstag
Der 01.03.2005 ist nun da.
Am ersten Tage des Monats Maerz ziehen wir aus um die Welt mit bahnbrechender Software zu bereichern. Man koennte fast sagen ein historisches Datum, denn ich moechte den heutigen Tag als meinen ersten offiziellen Arbeitstag im Kalender des Gregors festhalten.
Memo: Vielleicht langsam mal anfangen mit arbeiten wenns denn nun schon offiziell ist!
